1. About the Author: She is a Godfearing, anointed, gifted, woman of God. She has enjoyed a wonderful life, starting in a small town in Georgia, being raised in the church and Sunday School. With numerous accolades, she graduated with honors from Taylor County High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Data Processing from Florida A&M University, then was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. While on active duty she earned her Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy University. After 20 years of military service, she retired as a highly decorated Lieutenant Commander and currently resides in Cantonment, Florida. She is employed as an Energy Manager for the Escambia County School District and involved in many community projects. She is dedicated to her church and the Christian Education Ministry. She is married and has a son, Jeremy.

2. Tell us about your Books. God has blessed me to write a book series called “Saved for Ben.” Currently the first four books are in print. All of my books are full of hope, life lessons, and guidance. They are heartwarming, family focused, and full of character-building experiences that will make you laugh and cry. They are about tangibleR and intangible legacies. Even though the books are fictional, they have a true-life appeal. Setting is a fictional small town in Georgia called Fairville. Time period: The first book starts in August 1972; the fourth book ends in 1982. Each of the four books follows the growth and maturity of family members and friends denoting their trials, challenges, successes, and failures during the 1970’s and 1980’s dealing with discrimination, poverty, and loss. My characters face these issues, depending on God to guide them and deliver them from those situations.

3. How did you get started in your writing/who inspired you to write? Writing has always come naturally. However, the stronger my faith in Christ became, the more I was led to record some of the wisdom God had given me for others to benefit. I have written poetry, articles, plays, and devotional calendars. I knew that I had a gift, I asked God in December 2021 what was I supposed to do with this precious gift. In January 2022, he dropped this book series in my head. I started writing and just finished my seventh book of the series. God has blessed. This project also strengthened my faith to get out of my comfort zone of working behind the scenes.

4. What has been your biggest success and challenge? God has blessed that I have had many successes. I graduated from high school and college with honors. I received an NROTC scholarship then served 20 years in the Navy. I earned my master’s degree in management and have worked to provide for my family. Writing these books was a challenge. With all my writings, I knew this was a big endeavor. God blessed me with a publisher and the first four books were published in August 2022. The biggest challenge has been trying to promote my books, it has not been easy. Finding the right audience and venue has been my biggest challenge. Writing the book was easy; marketing the book is extremely hard when you don’t have funds to pay for marketing.

5. How do you attract your readers? Currently working hard to promote my books on social media. I recently made the decision to initiate Instagram and TikTok accounts. These social media accounts will hopefully drive readers to my website for more information or to purchase books.

6. What advice would you share with aspiring authors? I believe that we all have been given gifts, allow God to use your talents. Be obedient in what God wants you to do. I knew that my books were given to me by God, I stepped out on faith. God provided a publisher, funds to pay for the publisher, and I trust that he will put the books in the hands of those who need it. My advice is not to be afraid. None of us want to ever say that I should have, could have, but didn’t.
